FILM TREATMENT-Balls Collide 

Callum Merry 

LOGLINE 

A teenage boy going into school for yet another school year not expecting anything out of the ordinary until an unexpected arrival of a new male transfer student shocks the whole school.  


CHARACTERS/CAST LIST 

3 main characters 

Charlie:  

Charlie is a teenage boy who lives in a working-class area (Dinnington). He loves football and hanging out with his friends. Charlie is single and believes he is straight and is looking for a girlfriend to hang around with in school. He is happy in life but misses one thing, a partner. 

Matt: 

Charlies' best friend who just wants the best for Charlie. They have been best friends for years and have played football for their local team since they were 7 years old. Matt has a Girlfriend and Charlie feels left out sometimes by this.  

Josh: 

Josh has just moved from London to Dinnington and has his first school day coming up. He is nervous but also kind of excited to start a new life. Josh is single and believes he is straight. He wants to join the school football team but is anxious he will not cut it for the team.

SYNOPSIS: 

Balls Collide is a short film based on an unexpected teenage gay love story. The film surrounds a best friend partnership waiting for the new school year to start and the wonders it may bring. Little do they know, the unexpected is always possible.

Film evidence

  This is evidence of me filming using a stabilizer. This helps to keep all the film in a nice flow and have no jumpy shots because someone couldn't hold the camera still. This piece of equipment takes away this element and allows everything to be filmed consistently throughout.                                            This is me attaching a small light to the stabilizer and this allows light to be added to the shot/scene which will add a different vibe/atmosphere in the shot. This is really useful as I don't need to hold it with my hands and stays on top of the stabilizer shining down away from the camera.  This is me using the microphone which attaches just like the light on top of the stabilizer.   Pre-production Report     Pre-production in media is all the things that come before creating the end goal, whether that be a film /short film or a general project. This stage includes things such as a Location Permissions, Production log, Call sheets , Source of finance and so on. The overall aim in pre-production is for everyone to gain an understanding of what is needed from them before filming starts. Pre-production also creates a vision for you to know what is going to h appen and when things are going to take place e.g. first filming: where and when you will be filming.   Finance:   Finance and budgeting are crucial part s of pre-production.
